Reinoud van Vught

In Reinoud van Vught’s paintings, paint and chance are given full freedom. Moments in which he pours out the paint and exercises only a loose, intuitive control over the flowing material are alternated with more deliberate interventions. Working over the irregular traces of paint, or over the sealed surface of a sheet of paper weathered by numerous treatments, organic and floral motifs often emerge. Van Vught draws his inspiration from nature and from the tradition of painting.
