The exhibition ‘Birth, Skin and World’ presents works by artists Levi Malfait, Erwin Keustermans and guest Francis Vanhee. Levi Malfait looks into the human need for ‘conclusive’ or ‘completed’ stories and questions to what degree our anecdotes fictionalise history. Erwin Keustermans has made a drastic move away from previous abstract and formulaic drawings in the past few years, presenting now a series of portraits of friends. Francis Vanhee overlays acrylics, varnish, wax, plastic and clay, combining the photographic and painterly medium. The exhibition looks into archives, materials and lines of thought; a cross-pollination of human and matter.
