Lotte Wieringa’s paintings transpose bodily presence and mark making, in fields of colour. Scribbles and patches depict a field of improvisation on canvas. The visual language hovers between annotation and abstraction, traces of a direct dialogue with the medium and the materials used.
Lotte Wieringa (1991, NL) studied at the Willem de Kooning academy in Rotterdam, since her work has been presented internationally with upcoming solo exhibitions at Van Gogh Huis, at the New Art Section of Art Rotterdam 2023, in relation to her fellowship of Boijmans van Beuningen. Recently she was part of group exhibitions at Fundacja Stefana Gierowskiego, Warsaw; Koninklijk paleis Amsterdam; Boijmans’ online exhibition a.o. Lotte Wieringa is currently represented by Kersgallery and NQ Gallery.
